A positive experience for Mills CNC!Mills CNC, the exclusive distributor of Doosan machine tools in the UK and Ireland, reports that its debut at Southern Manufacturing 2019 was extremely positive, with visitors paying particular attention to the Doosan five-axis machining centre and the Doosan Robotics’ collaborative robot showcased at the event.

The company describes business over the three days as ‘brisk’ and says that a significant number of machine tool and cobot leads and enquiries were generated.

Mills (www.millscnc.co.uk) says that the DVF 5000 five-axis machine — launched by the company at MACH 2018 — is proving to be highly successful, particularly with manufacturers of aerospace and medical components; its productivity can be increased via an optional eight-pallet automatic workpiece changer.

Tony Dale, Mills CNC’s technical director, said: “The DVF 5000 is the latest addition to Doosan’s five-axis machine tool portfolio.

“Precision, speed, process reliability and flexibility accurately sum up its credentials and explain why it was such a draw onto our stand.”

At the end of last year, Mills CNC signed an agreement to supply the Doosan Robotics range of collaborative robot systems and solutions to UK and Irish manufacturers.

A new division, called Mills CNC Automation, has been created to manage its collaborative and industrial robot and automation business.

Mr Dale said: “There are four different collaborative robots in the Doosan Robot-ics’ range; at Southern Manufacturing 2019, we showcased the M0609 model, which has a 6kg payload capacity and a 0.9m-radius reach.

“These cobots are designed to perform a wide range of tasks, from CNC machine tool tending through to inspection and testing, and from assembly to packaging and palletising.”
