Pentag completes delivery to UK oilfieldDerbyshire-based Pentag Gears & Oilfield Equipment Ltd, a designer and manufacturer of high-quality gearing and machinery (www.pentag-gears.com), has completed the delivery of its 35th beam pump to Wytch Farm Oil Field in Dorset.

This is the largest onshore oilfield in Western Europe, first tapped by the British Gas Corporation back in 1980
and now operated by Perenco.

The average daily oil production is more than 13,000 barrels.

Wytch Farm comprises three separate oil reservoirs: the Bridport and Sherwood Jurassic sandstone oil reservoirs and the Frome clay/limestone oil reservoir.

Bridport is 900m beneath the surface, Sherwood 1,600m and Frome 750m.

Pentag, which is the sole UK manufacturer of beam pumping units, has been supplying to Wytch Farm Oil Field for almost 40 years.

Production manager Andrew Larkin said: “This has been a major relationship, involving close collaboration with engineers at Wytch Farm. As a result, when orders for individual units have been received, we have designed, manufactured and delivered the units on time and to budget.”

Pentag beam pumps are manufactured to the highest standards and incorporate corrosion-resistant adjustment mechanisms.

They offer longevity and trouble-free operation in all climatic conditions.

They also feature a bolted construction for easy assembly, and fully sealed bearings are fitted throughout. They will accept any type of prime mover.
