Faro — a leading provider of 3-D measurement and imaging solutions for 3-D manufacturing, construction BIM, 3-D design, public safety forensics, and photonics applications — has confirmed that Michael Burger has been appointed president and CEO of the company (with effect from 17 June).

He succeeds Simon Raab, who announced his intention to retire as the company’s president and CEO (and from the board) upon the appointment of his successor.

Mr Burger brings to Faro over 20 years’ experience as a global executive in the industrial technology sector, most recently as president and CEO of Electro Scientific Industries Inc, a leading supplier of laser-based micro-fabrication solutions.

Before joining Electro Scientific, he was president and CEO of Cascade Microtech Inc, a manufacturer of “wafer probing, thermal and reliability solutions” for the electrical measurement and testing of high-performance semiconductor devices.
