Coventry-based NP Aerospace, formerly part of Morgan Advanced Materials, has been awarded a £63 million contract by the Ministry of Defence to maintain the British Army’s fleet of armoured vehicles.
The company, which has a facility in Foleshill, undertakes the design and manufacture of “advanced armour technology for personal protection and military vehicle platforms” (

It will be in charge of the upkeep, updating and upgrading of almost 2,500 vehicles; the contract will support some 100 jobs in Coventry and 250 jobs within the UK.
Defence Minister Stuart Andrew, said: “This contract will ensure that armoured vehicles are repaired, upgraded and returned to the frontline as quickly as possible.”
Major General Colin McClean, director land equipment for Defence Equipment and Support, said: “The Protected Mobility fleet has been hugely important for defence over the last 15 years.
“It is vital that we continue to invest in our capabilities, ensuring that they are always ready for training or operational purposes.
“Given its significant role now and in the future, I am pleased we are partnering with NP Aerospace to deliver this contract.”
The MoD invested £622 million with industry in the West Midlands in 2017/18, sustaining 4,900 jobs in the region.
