North Lincolnshire-based Wren Kitchens is planning to build a new 910,000ft
2 facility (the size of 13 football pitches) behind its existing headquarters in Barton-Upon-Humber and create up to 1,200 new jobs.
The company already employs more than 1,500 people in Barton, plus another 1,000 at its manufacturing sites in Scunthorpe, Howden and Hull.
Managing director Mark Pullan said (
www.wrenkitchens.com): “This will be the largest single investment in Wren’s history, and having considered different locations in the UK and abroad, we believe that developing the existing site in Barton-Upon-Humber is the best solution.
"We believe that continual re-investment in our business is essential to maintaining our current growth rate. Subject to receiving planning approval, the project will be funded internally.”
North Lincolnshire Council leader Rob Waltham said: “It’s a fantastic vote of confidence for North Lincolnshire that Wren Kitchens is looking to expand its operations in Barton.
“This could see more highly skilled jobs brought to the area, and such large private investments often prove to be a catalyst for other investments in the surrounding areas.”
