County Durham-based Parker Bioscience Filtration, which is part of Parker Hannifin (a leading manufacturer of motion and control technologies and systems), has unveiled new facilities at its Birtley site.

These are the result of a phased investment programme, which included building ‘state of the art’ office and conference spaces, extended laboratories and a new clean-room, as well as manufacturing and testing facilities.

Parker Bioscience Filtration (www.parker.com) designs and supplies systems for both upstream and downstream pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical manufacturing, as well as integrated bioprocessing.

Incorporating the expertise from the now Parker-owned brands of SciLog and Domnick Hunter, the company combines filtration, single-use fluid-handling systems and sensors into automated solutions.

General manager Kris Holmes said: “It’s hugely exciting to have opened the doors to our extended and refurbished site in Birtley.

“We have strengthened the level of technical support and service that we can offer across biopharmaceutical manufacturing and the brewing, dairy, wine and bottled-water industries.

"We have shortened the supply chain for our European customers and made it easier for customers to access filtration solutions and automated systems.”
