Two new additions to the Sylvac Scan range of optical measurement centres have been introduced by the Sheffield-based Bowers Group.
The Sylvac Scan S145 has been developed to measure cylindrical parts up to 145mm in diameter and 1,280mm long; a new longer version — the S145L — is also available, complementing the current Scan range, which includes the F60 and Scan 52.
The Sylvac Scan S145 has been designed to offer fast, accurate and repeatable measurements; it also features quick-release tooling, a motorised tailstock, integrated temperature sensors and an on-board calibration master, enabling it to be used in shopfloor conditions.
Furthermore, integration with robots is said to be quick and easy, to create a fully automated inspection solution.
Martin Hawkins, UK sales manager for Bowers Group, said: “The Sylvac Scan S145 and S145L offer manufacturers of turned parts more options for the measurement of bigger components.
“They represent a significant step forward in the field of optical measurement, with the advantages of reduced inspection time, reduced scrap and increased productivity.”
Also featured with these units are the easy-to-use Industry 4.0-ready Reflex Scan software, Bluetooth connectivity to other Sylvac instruments via Sylvac Sylcom software, a ‘one-click’ measuring capability and automatic part recognition.
The S145 and S145L also offer detailed reporting (including ‘statistics view’ and data export), as well as optional CAD import and off-line programming (
