Bromsgrove-based Walter GB Ltd (
www.walter-tools.com) has announced the new AB735 synchronous threading adapter.
This is designed to minimise the axial forces that occur during tapping and threading (caused by the rotation of the machine spindle and its feed travel) and thereby reduce tool wear (in particular, thread flank wear), while also reducing the chance of tool breakages.
In addition to extending tool life, the ‘lean and short’ design of the adapter, which can be used in all standard ER collet chucks, allows it to be used in tight spaces — as may be encountered, for example, on turn/mill centres.
Said to be more cost-effective than comparable systems, the AB735 features quick-change exchangeable front pieces.
This allows different thread sizes and tool diameters (ER16 to ER32) to be used with the same collet, while also accommodating tools with or without an internal coolant supply.
