With the new Leitz PMM-Xi, Hexagon Metrology
(www.hexagonmetrology.com) is aiming specifically at small and medium-size manufacturers requiring extremely precise co-ordinate measuring machines that are affordable.
With a basic accuracy of 0.6+L/550µm, the PMM-Xi is suitable for calibrating measuring tools — and as a reference instrument for the shopfloor, quality centres and measurement laboratories. As a universal measuring machine, it also takes the place of form testers, gear and camshaft checkers, and other specialist machines (the scales have a resolution of 0.02µm).
On the sensor side, this CMM features the new version of the LSP-X5 high-speed scanning sensor; well established in the field of industrial 3-D metrology, this unit supports variable high-speed scanning and self-centring 3-D scanning — as well as single-point probing. The new generation of the LSP-X5 also offers an interface for a removable component temperature sensor, which can be integrated into the probe head at any time during the measuring process for even greater measured accuracy.
A total of nine Leitz PMM-Xi models are available; these have the same measurement ranges as the Leitz PMM-C series.
