In a trading update, the group said its order book stood at £3.7 billion at 31 March, up from £3.6 billion at the end of December. New contracts won during the period include a £68 million deal with BP.
Chief executive Samir Brikho said: “We continue to see good growth in conventional oil and gas, with new contract awards, such as the one to deliver the hook-up and commissioning services for the two new Clair Ridge platforms for BP (pictured), boosting our activity in the North Sea in particular. The acquisitions made in 2012 are integrating well, and the pipeline of further acquisition opportunities remains good.”
The contract with BP involves the construction and installation of new production, accommodation and drilling facilities, plus sub-sea pipelines. At its peak, the project will be carried out by a team of about 800 people. Amec said that activity in the North Sea and Gulf of Mexico remains “particularly strong”, with work continuing on a number of projects.
