(www.gfac.com) International Technology Show in Losone, Switzerland, last month. They showed how the group’s advanced-manufacturing technologies can help customers to improve their performance.
Each of the show’s four days began with an over-view of the group’s history of innovation and was followed by a key-note address from a customer, technical presentations, machine demonstrations, a ‘meet the experts’ session and a tour of the EDM manufacturing facility in Zandone.
The high-speed and high-efficiency five-axis milling machines highlighted at the event included the HSM 2000U LP, which has linear drives on all axes, and the HEM 500U, which is equipped with a newly developed rotary tilting table.
The EDM innovations in the spotlight included the CUT 200mS/Sp wire-cut machine, which features active thermo-stabilisation for best positioning accuracy, and the FORM 2000 VHP, which incorporates thermo-stabilisation plus a Z axis cooled with dielectric.
Meanwhile, GF Agie Charmilles Customer Services presented a number of advanced preventive-maintenance initiatives. These include: calibration by laser interferometer to guarantee maximum accuracy of a machine’s axes; geometrical control to prevent wear on machine components; and circularity tests with a ball-bar gauge to help diagnose machine performance issues.
