In March alone, the company handed over 864,400 — an increase of 0.2% on March 2012. Group companies delivered 881,600 vehicles to the overall European market in the first quarter (-5.9%) as demand for vehicles took a general downturn; of this figure, 477,400 units were for Western Europe (excluding Germany). In the home market of Germany, 262,100 new vehicles were handed over (-7.2%), while 142,100 (-3.6%) were delivered in the Central and Eastern Europe region. Deliveries in Russia increased by 2% to 67,300.
Developments in the Americas were mixed, with deliveries in North America from January to March growing 14.9% to 205,700, of which 142,800 (+14.7%) were delivered in the USA. In South America, there was a 4.5% decline to 219,200. Group figures for the Asia-Pacific region remained encouraging, with deliveries of 860,700 vehicles representing an increase of 18.5%.
Of this total, 769,200 units (+21.3%) were delivered in China, the Group’s largest single market. Deliveries in India, however, fell 24% to 25,900 units.
