Alenia is part of the Eurofighter consortium, which includes BAE Systems and EADS. The deal includes servicing and other services, plus the initial five-year logistics support package requested by the Royal Air Force of Oman. Alenia will start producing the components for Oman’s Eurofighters in 2014, and the first complete aircraft will be delivered
in 2017.
Oman is the seventh customer for the Typhoon, and this order brings the number of Eurofighters ordered so far to 719, of which 517 were ordered by Italy, the UK, Germany, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Austria and Oman. Over 350 have been delivered so far.
