(www.barnshaws.com) has recently been involved in a Cardiff energy-from-waste project. Working with ASD Westok and Fisher Engineering, the company was asked to produce some of the deepest cellular beams ever requested.
The largest beam was 1,594mm deep; it was formed from one of the biggest universal beam sections that Tata produces: 1,016 x 305 and weighing 438kg. The project also involved curving a variety of items ranging from 457mm-deep universal beams to 400mm-deep rectangular hollow sections. The whole project took more than three months and involved about 500 tonnes of steel.
Another recent contract saw Barnshaws Structural Division bending box sections for a £4.2 million re-development of the Haynes Motor Museum in Coseley.
The museum’s old frontage is being replaced by a new entrance, gift shop and restaurant. There will also be more exhibition space.
