#rail #train #ukmfg Train-maker Bombardier has received an order worth £88 million to build 57 rail cars for the London Overground network at its Derby facility.
The contract for the Bombardier Electrostar trains is part of Transport for London’s programme to increase passenger capacity on the network. The new cars will be used to turn existing four-carriage trains into five-carriage versions. Bombardier will start the delivery of the order in late 2014 and finish in 2015.
Commercial director (UK) Des McKeon said: “This contract underlines the strength of the long-standing relationship between Bombardier and Transport for London. Bombardier is playing an important role helping TfL deliver increased capacity on the network.”
