(www.hexagonmetrology.co.uk) has become a member of the Coventry-based Manufacturing Technology Centre in order to lend its expertise to a number of research programmes. The company will work alongside founder members Airbus and Rolls-Royce as part of a Government initiative to help British manufacturers take advantage of new and emerging technologies.
It has supplied a range of its metrology equipment to the MTC, including a Leica laser tracker (with T-Scan and T-Probe) for a project designed to create a robotic system for inspecting aircraft assemblies. Other areas of study that it will support include PLM-integrated measurement planning and white-light robotic in-line measurement. It has also supplied a Leitz ultra-high-precision CMM.
Business development manager Brett Green said: “Hexagon is delighted to share its skills in a scheme that brings business and academia together for the benefit of British industry.”
