New business and innovation centre#thisisbristol #rydon #ukmfg #engineshed Rydon Construction has begun refurbishing the former Empire and Commonwealth Museum in Bristol into a business and innovation centre for fast-growing high-tech companies — and the new home of Invest in Bristol and Bath.

The Engine Shed project is funded principally by Bristol City Council and the University of Bristol, with some Government funding as part of the City Deal scheme.

It is to be managed by the university’s ‘business incubator’, Bristol SETsquared. Located in the Bristol Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone, the Engine Shed is set to be a permanent base for 20 companies and to provide facilities for 40 more.

Nick Sturge, director of Bristol SETsquared, said: “This is an exciting project. We are delighted that work is now under way to deliver the iconic space that we have planned for.”
