#alstom #ukmfg #renewables Alstom has signed a Memorandum of Understanding to help Tidal Lagoon Power Ltd design and build the generating units for the proposed £650 million 250MW tidal lagoon in Swansea Bay.
Steve Burgin, vice-president of sales in Northern and Central Europe for Alstom’s Power Generation division, said: “Our aim is to optimise a turbine design for maximum power output from lowest production cost, before manufacturing the turbines and generators required.”
There should be a consultation on the plans this summer, followed by an application for development consent in the autumn, while a community share offer will also be launched shortly. If all goes to schedule, the project will be completed by 2017.
