RDM Group has officially opened its advanced engineering and vehicle build centre in Coventry. The company, which celebrated its 21st anniversary at the start of the year, has spent more than £400,000 on securing an additional 20,000ft
2 facility on the Bilton Industrial Estate and fitting it out with two CNC machines, three injection moulding machines, a three-axis router, a laser engraver, new CAD/CAM software and a dedicated area for vehicle conversions and builds.
RDM chairman David Keene (pictured) said that the company, which currently employs 38 people, is aiming to develop new business and bring back sub-contracted production from China. “We had reached a point where we knew we could win more work and lead on a host of new opportunities, but we needed additional space to support these ambitions.
“The new facility — adjacent to our current factory — became available; thanks to support from the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership’s Growing Places fund, we were able to acquire the building and create a purpose-built manufacturing centre.”
