BMW contract with Magna Steyr

Magna Steyr, the Austrian division of US-based Magna International, has signed a new contract with German car maker BMW Group to assemble vehicles at its plant in Graz. The agreement is expected to include high-volume models, such as the BMW 5-series and the 3-series; it will begin once production of the Mini Countryman and Mini Paceman at the plant comes to an end in 2016.
Günther Apfalter, president of Magna International Europe, said: “We are pleased to secure this contract, which allows Magna Steyr to maintain its position as a leader in contract vehicle manufacturing.” Magna Steyr also assembles the Mercedes G-class and the Peugeot RCZ.
