The Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) has appointed professors Claire Davis and Barbara Shollock to chair — respectively — research into thermo-mechanical processing and advanced characterisation and coatings for Tata Steel.
Lord Bhattacharyya, founder of the WMG, said that his organisation has been working closely to develop a strategic partnership with the Indian group. This latest move builds on the appointment of professor Sridhar Seetharaman to the Tata Steel research chair in low-carbon materials technologies at the WMG.
Debashish Bhattacharjee, group director (R&D) at Tata Steel, said: “We are delighted with the appointment of these two leading professors in their respective fields. Warwick is growing as a centre for steel-based research, and the developing partnership with Tata Steel gives us access to world-leading research.”
Ms Davis is currently chair of ferrous metallurgy at the University of Birmingham; Ms Shollock is currently senior lecturer at Imperial College London.
