Mills CNC’s portfolio increases Mills CNC Ltd, Leamington Spa (www.millscnc.co.uk) — the exclusive distributor of Doosan machine tools in the UK and Ireland — will be exhibiting 23 Doosan machine tools in total on its 806m2 stand; these will include 14 Doosan lathes and multi-axis turning centres, several making their UK and/or MACH debuts (Hall 5 Stand 5430). One example from the CNC lathe range is the new Lynx 220 LSYA sub-spindle lathe, which has an integrated Y axis (±52.5mm) and is equipped as standard with an automatic tool setter, parts catcher, pneumatic parts ejector with coolant feed (on the sub-spindle) and parts conveyor.

This 6in chuck/51mm bar machine has a 15kW 6,000rev/min main spindle, a 5.5kW 6,000rev/min sub-spindle, a 12-station turret (24-position indexing capability), full C-axis capability on both its main spindle and sub-spindle, and driven tools (3.7kW 6,000rev/min) providing additional mill, drill and tapping capabilities.

Also new is the Puma 2600, which has a 10in chuck/76mm bar capacity, 3,500rev/min spindle (22kW/625Nm) and 12-station turret. This is one of four new models in the Puma range, the others being the Puma 3100XLY (a 2,125mm bed-length lathe with a 12in chuck/102mm bar capacity, C axis, live tooling and ±65mm Y-axis); the Puma GT2100M (a heavy-duty box-guideway machine being exhibited with an 8in chuck/65mm bar capacity, 18.5kW 4,500rev/min spindle and 5.5kW 5,000rev/min driven tooling); and the Puma 480L (this has a 2,150mm bed length, a 21in chuck/165.5mm bar capacity, 45kW gearbox-driven 1,500rev/min spindle and 10-station turret).

Also new are the ST20G (20mm bar diameter) and ST32G (32mm bar diameter) sliding-head lathes, both equipped with the latest Fanuc 31iB CNC, which offers seven-axis capability. The standard tooling specification/configuration on both machines is: six static turning tools; four static front tools; five cross-milling (rotary) tools, including milling holders (four tools on the ST32G); two static and two milling holders on the back tool-post; and two static sleeves for deep-hole drilling.

Other new additions to the Mills CNC portfolio are the 45kW 1,800rev/min VT 900 vertical turning lathe; this has a 900mm maximum turning diameter and can accommodate workpieces up to 850mm long. Also, the next-generation SMX 3000 multi-axis mill-turn centre; this 12in-chuck machine has a maximum turning diameter of 660mm, a 40-tool front-mounted automatic tool changer with Capto C6 milling spindle, tailstock, SLU5 servo-driven steady rest and full five-axis capability.
