Six new machines set to boost productivity

Six new machines set to boost productivity Six new machines will figure among the 10 on the stand of Bushey-based Citizen Machinery UK Ltd (www.citizenmachinery.co.uk). Managing director Geoff Bryant points out that “continuous improvement in control and software includes a focus not only on increased productivity but also on environmental and overall cost reduction issues — such as power saving right across the product range.”

Making their first show appearances in the UK will be: the Citizen L12-Vll, Citizen L20-Xll and Citizen MC20 sliding-head turning machines; the Miyano BNA-42GTY and Miyano BNE-51MSY fixed-head turning machines; and the Ocean Cincom fully automated GN-4200 high-speed machining cell (Hall 5 Stand 5640).

The Citizen L12-Vll bridges the gap to cost-effectively meet both long- and short-component requirements on the same machine through quick and simple removal or replacement of the guide-bush assembly.

This machine combines up to 27 tools with a 15,000rev/min main spindle, a 10,000rev/min sub spindle and rapid traverses of 35m/min. The Citizen L20-Xll mid-range sliding-head turn-mill centre also incorporates the added flexibility of an interchangeable guide-bush assembly. It has a 40-tool capacity and incorporates a novel 135deg swivelling B axis to service both the main spindle and the sub-spindle, with four double-ended driven tools supporting angled milling and drilling cycles.

The production version of the new-generation nine-axis Citizen MC20 modular production centre features three independent spindles, each of which can be configured to perform various processes, such as turning, milling and even grinding or measuring cycles. In addition to a bar feed, the integrated handing system enables forgings, castings or billets to be processed.

Meanwhile, a prime example of technology sharing within the Citizen group is the Miyano BNA-42GTY turning centre, which combines Citizen’s Cincom control software with Miyano’s moving-headstock design. Overlapped operations and three-tool simultaneous cutting can be performed, making full use of the new machine’s 45-tool capability.

The second new Miyano machine — the BNE-51MSY — is a 51mm capacity, seven-axis, twin 12-station turret turning centre that uses Cincom control technology with X3 and Z3 axes to service the second spindle and contribute to three-tool simultaneous machining. Driven tools provide speeds of 6,000rev/min via a 2.2kW motor delivering 20Nm of torque.

The Ocean Cincom GN-4200 has a fully integrated 154m/min high-speed two-axis gantry loader feeding a ‘wing-fixed’ 45mm air chuck or a 40mm collet chuck. It can be fed from a pallet stocker, pallet conveyor or in-out conveyor system. A 3.7kW spindle motor delivers 8,000rev/min, and a six-station linear tool platen is standard.
