Optimum Steel is to establish a new manufacturing facility in Lockhart, which is 30 miles south of Austin, Texas. It is expected that around 55 jobs will be created as a result.

The US steel manufacturer and fabricator will move into a 20,000 sq. ft. building leased from the Lockhart Economic Development Corp, which is spending $50,000 on site improvements.

Lockhart is also offering Optimum the option of buying the building for $1.3 million throughout the term of the lease.

Optimum Steel was founded in 1989 and is based in the nearby city of Kyle.
