US aerospace giant Boeing has begun the expansion of its 737 Commercial Delivery Center (CDC) in Seattle; it will more than double in size to 90,000 sq. ft.
Beverly Wyse, 737 vice-president and general manager at Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said: “Our customers expect — and deserve — a first-class facility, and we think these improvements will take their experience to the next level.
A larger facility is essential as we continue to increase our delivery rate and get ready for the introduction of the new 737 Max.”
Production of the 737 is set to increase to 42 planes per month this month and to 47 per month by 2017.
Deliveries of the 737 Max will begin in 2017. The CDC expansion is scheduled for completion in mid-2015.
