Darlington-based Deep Ocean UK has entered a seven-year agreement with Maersk Supply Services to build a new vessel to undertake the laying of underwater cables in the North Sea.
The vessel, a DOC 8500 Damen Offshore Carrier, will be built at Maersk’s Damen Galati shipyard in Romania.
Managing director Tony Inglis said: “This next-generation cable-laying vessel will be well suited for installation and burial projects, as well as working in remote geographical locations.”
