Madrid-based Molecor is to manufacture PVC-O pipes under the Hypro brand at a new facility in Kuantan, Malaysia. The plant will initially have three production lines and a total capacity of 11,000 tonnes per year. Manufacturing operations are planned to begin by the fourth quarter of 2014. The facility will largely serve local government and town developers.

Molecor said that its PVC-O pipes are resistant to corrosion and natural chemical substances and are particularly suited to distributing high-pressure water from treatment plants to industrial and household consumers. The company says that it plans to expand its production capacity in Malaysia over the next 31/2 years, as well as in Thailand and Indonesia.

CEO Ignacio Muñoz said: “Our PVC-O pipes have a track record of effective implementation in several countries, including Australia, Italy, Spain, Colombia and Ecuador. The Hypro PVC-O pipe market in Malaysia is promising.”
