StoreDot, a start-up company based in Tel Aviv, is said to be developing a bio-organic system that can recharge a smart-phone battery in 30sec.
The prototype battery and charger is currently being tested with Samsung’s Galaxy phones.
However, StoreDot CEO Doron Myersdorf says that a version compatible with all makes of smart-phone should be on the market by 2016.
“The core of the new technology is the use of peptides — bio-organic compounds containing amino acids. We are modifying the surface of the electrodes with these peptides, to increase the chemical reaction and produce extra energy. This allows us to avoid the most annoying aspect of smart-phones and ensure that we have a charged phone all day.”
