IPS Marine Fabrications, a Birkenhead-based manufacturer of insulation products, has completed a series of contracts for three shipping groups.

The North West company produced thermal oil-pipe insulation pads for engine compartments for Whitaker Tankers and supplied high-temperature ceramic-fibre insulation for engine exhausts for Seatruck. It also worked with MPE Interiors (also based in Birkenhead) to fit out Stena’s Adventurer car ferry.

Director Paul Smith said: “We are determined to continue driving growth in both the maritime and industrial sectors. Insulation work as a whole accounts for around 70% of our sales, but there is huge scope — and a growing demand — for our sheet-metal fabrication service.

"We make a wide variety of products, with a speciality in ventilation and air-conditioning systems. Our aim is to grow the fabrication side of the business, so that it accounts for half of our sales.”
