Tata Motors Ltd — India’s largest car manufacturer — has signed a distribution contract with Pilipinas Taj Autogroup Inc to supply its vehicles in the Philippines, which it considers to be “the perfect platform” for its future growth in South East Asia.

RT Wasan, head of international business for commercial vehicles, described the Philippines as “an interesting market,” which could provide a great opportunity for the company.

“We have studied the market here for the last couple of years. We’ve undertaken ‘customer clinics’ to understand the requirements of Filipino consumers, to make the product suitable for them.”
