KS SPV 53 — a newly formed company based in Truro — has applied to Blaenau Gwent Council for planning permission to build a 14MW solar park on farmland near Abertillery; this would be equipped with 54,000 solar panels covering 51.9 acres of land.
However, when access to roads and the infrastructure for grid connection are taken into account, the acreage required would rise to 70.7.
Truro-based Laurence Associates has compiled a design-and-access statement for the scheme on behalf of its client. It said: “The site forms part of an existing agricultural holding. However, the land is not of a high grade in agricultural terms, and its use and returns are limited in this regard.”
