McTays, a ship-builder based in Birkenhead, has spent £1 million on upgrading its headquarters, including work to upgrade a slipway so that a full range of emergency repair work and planned servicing can be provided for vessels up to 2,000 tonnes.
The company, which is a subsidiary of the HS Ocean Group, opened the upgraded slipway to coincide with its 40th anniversary.
Managing director Peter Breslin said: “Over the last 40 years, McTays has built 120 specialist ships and marine structures. The upgraded slipway will bring larger vessels into our yard and will ensure that we will go from strength to strength.”
