ULEM Co Ltd, a start-up business that retro-fits vans to run on hydrogen, has received a £150,000 investment from the North West Fund for Energy. The Liverpool-based company is a ‘spin-out’ from automotive design and consultancy company Revolve Technologies.

Managing director Amanda Lyne said: “Developing hydrogen-based energy systems like this is of international significance as world governments seek to address the issue of global warming. Significant resources have been put into this technology, and we are delighted to receive this investment.”

Adam Workman — a partner at 350 Investment Partners, which manages the North West Fund for Energy — said: “This is the 16th investment that the fund has made to date, and we are pleased to be able to provide an opportunity for a start-up that has real potential.”
