The largest vertical machining centre ever sold by XYZ Machine Tools (www.xyzmachinetools.com) has been delivered to a long-standing customer in Hull — D&D Engineering.

The 20-tonne XYZ 2010 VMC is the smallest of a new three-machine range of large machines; it has axis travels of 2,000, 1,000 and 800mm plus a rapid traverse rate of 16,000mm/min in all axes.

Managing director Nigel Atherton says: “The addition of these large VMCs to our range is in response to a growing need for larger-capacity machining centres.”

The machine delivered to D&D will be used on a wide variety of work for customers in the food, ‘fast-moving consumer goods’, medical, agricultural, defence and offshore sectors.
