Canada’s Minister for Federal Development, Gary Goodyear, recently took part in the grand opening of Western University’s new Collider Centre for Technology Commercialization in London, Ontario. He congratulated the university on “this important milestone” and reiterated his government’s support for manufacturing in the state.
The Collider is an advanced manufacturing centre that will provide local companies with industrial research space, ‘state of the art’ production and testing equipment, access to highly skilled engineers and business-services support. It has the capacity to house up to 20 businesses at once and aims to help them get their products to market.
Mr Goodyear added: “Today’s Grand Opening is a great example of how the Government is backing our advanced manufacturers to bring new opportunities to the London area and establish it as a hub for this sector.”
Joe Preston, the MP for Elgin-Middlesex-London, said: “As a research-intensive university, Western is working to create world-class facilities and developing new partnerships in support of excellence. The Collider is another step towards achieving our vision, bringing researchers and industry together under one roof to make new discoveries and bring innovative products to world markets.”
