Wrightbus International has won a £30 million contract to supply 415 double-decker bus kits to SBS Transit in Singapore.

The complete knocked-down (CKD) kits will be produced at the company’s Ballymena plant and then shipped to Singapore for assembly by Comfort Delgro Engineering, with support from Wrightbus technicians.

Arlene Foster — Northern Ireland’s Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister — said: “Wrightbus is a leading example of an innovative business that has continued to invest in its future. Developing its CKD kit with R&D support from Invest Northern Ireland has created significant opportunities for the business.

“Earlier this year, I met with the Comfort Delgro management team in Singapore, and they were clearly impressed by the quality and innovation behind the Wrightbus product. This contract secures Wrightbus as the primary supplier of double-decker buses for SBS Transit into 2017. It follows three previous orders for over 1,000 similar vehicles.”
