Following its European launch at the EMO 2013 exhibition, the AS-200 single-turret milling and turning centre has proved a highly popular addition to the extensive Nakamura-Tome range, which is available in the UK from Southam-based Engineering Technology Group (
www.engtechgroup.com).
Suitable for small-batch production or high-volume single-component machining, the AS-200 features a 4,500rev/min 15kW spindle, a 6,000rev/min 5.5kW motor for the driven tooling, a high-speed high-accuracy C axis and an 82mm Y axis.
It is supplied as standard with a 65mm-capacity bar feeder and a parts catcher. Two turret options are available: a 12/24-station version with the capacity for 12 driven tools and a 15-station version with all driven tools.
As standard, the AS200 is equipped with a Nakamura-Fanuc CNC system, supplied with the NT Work Navigator program, which offers co-ordinate recognition —a cost-cutting feature for multi-tasking machines.
Also standard are the Airbag overload detection system (to minimise machine damage in a collision) and the NT Nurse software (this assists the operation, programming and production processes; it also includes tool-load monitoring and tool-life management).
