Oil-analysis service at Bosch Rexroth

Oil-analysis service at Bosch RexrothBosch Rexroth (www.boschrexroth.co.uk) has launched a new oil-analysis service that will allow service and maintenance engineers to spot potential issues early, thereby avoiding costly repairs and down-time.

The new service will provide results within 48hr; it has an on-line portal that will enable engineers to track and trend results over time, in order to predict and prevent issues before they arise.

Chris Gray, filtration product manager for Bosch Rexroth, said: “With more than 30 years’ experience designing, manufacturing and servicing hydraulic systems and components, we are well aware of the consequences if contaminated oil goes undetected.

“For many maintenance and production engineers, there simply isn’t the time to conduct the regular checks needed to identify issues before it is too late. The result can range from pump failure to issues with servo drives and malfunctioning valves, which cause unplanned machinery down-time and potentially costly repairs or the need to replace components entirely.

“Typical contaminants include welding residue, solid particles that enter via piston rods, poor seals and vents, and particles generated
during the life of a drive by seal abrasion or chemical erosion.

“With our new oil-analysis service, we are effectively taking responsibility for the health of a machine, in a bid to ensure that it is available 100% of the time. When you consider that the cost of replacing an average-sized pump is about £5,000 and an oil-analysis report costs just £25, the financial argument really begins to stack up.”
