A series of air turbine spindles from Tamworth-based Industrial Tooling Corp (ITC) (
www.itc-ltd.co.uk) has been extended to offer a line of new spindles that can be retrofitted to robots, machining centres, drilling machines and turning centres.
The 700 series of ‘motor mount’ spindles provides the benefits of high-speed machining to all machine types — in particular robotic cells that require milling, drilling and even component-marking capability.
Designed to be retrofitted to automation cells and robotic devices, the 725JSL series of shank- mounted deburring motors is available with governed speeds of 30,000, 40,000 and 50,000rev/min with respective power ratings of 0.4, 0.45 and 0.5hp.
Moreover, these units require a minimum of maintenance, as they have grease-packed bearings that work with a turbine drive having only two moving parts; and with no vanes and no gears, heat generation is mini-mised and the need for maintenance eliminated.
The 725JSL spindle, which operates with an inlet air pressure of 90psi, has been designed to reduce compressed air consumption by 30% — and they can reach their maximum speed with no warm-up cycle. Furthermore, the fully enclosed steel barrel case and shank limits the noise emitted to less than 67dBA.
