Aston Martin confirms return of the LagondaThe Warwickshire-based firm said a new ‘super saloon’ will be produced in limited numbers and will only be sold in the Middle East — and by invitation only. Deliveries are expected to begin in late 2015.

Design director Marek Reichman said that the new car draws inspiration from the Lagonda of 1976. “The new model, like its exclusive siblings the One-77 and the V12 Zagato, has been created as a piece of exceptional automotive art. It has been designed and developed entirely in keeping with the spirit and ethos of previous Lagonda super-saloons — notably the William Towns model.”

Mr Reichman also confirmed a few technical details about the new car, notably that it will be based on the brand’s current VH platform, which has underpinned most Aston Martin models since the first-generation V12 Vanquish in 2001. In addition, carbon fibre will feature in the body panels in order to save weight.
