Over a 12-week period, 94 interns will be paid £4,200 for their work placement at BAE Systems; they will also receive an externally recognised certificate from the awarding organisation EAL.
There are eight different business units undertaking a variety of roles, and the interns are located at offices in Bristol, London, Glasgow, and Gloucester, as well as others across the country.
The internship scheme has been created in partnership with skills body Semta, the employer-led body responsible for equipping the UK’s engineering, science and manufacturing technologies sectors with the skills to compete globally.
Ross Godbolt (21) (pictured), a student studying aerospace engineering at Leeds University, said: “I have learned a great deal from people with in-depth knowledge and experience.
“So far I’ve had the opportunity to see operations on the Typhoon jet final assembly line at Warton and the production and assembly line of the F-35 at Samlesbury.”
The application process for 2015 placements will open in September.
