Formed two years ago, Northamptonshire-based Express Composites Solutions (ECS) — a pattern, mould and composite tools specialist — is looking to branch out from the motor-sport industry and into new markets.
To meet the demands of this expansion, ECS has doubled its production space and purchased a new Sachos Dynamic five-axis CNC machining centre with a work envelope of 2,900 x 1,500 x 800mm, A and C axes with travels of ±110deg and ±400deg respectively, and a 24kW 24,000rev/min spindle.
The Sachos runs 24/7 and is the company’s second CNC machine to be installed to cut aluminium as well as omposites.
David Damsell, director and company co-founder, said: “ECS is developing a powerful reputation in motor-sport and is seeking to widen its work into other industries.
By re-organising our working space, we have freed up an additional 600ft2 which is giving us greater flexibility in delivering machining services to an increasing number of composites companies.”
