Renovo Motors has displayed for the first time the production prototype of its new coupé — a two-seater all-electric vehicle.
The car was unveiled at this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Élégance — an event that takes place near Monterey, California, every August.
The Renovo Coupé uses patent-pending battery technology, and the multiple separate battery enclosures allow performance-oriented weight distribution. It can go from 0-60 mph in 3.4sec and can produce 500hp with its high-voltage battery pack.
CEO Christopher Heiser said: “Renovo Motors sought to create an aspirational vehicle demonstrating the performance, control and excitement that are possible with electric-vehicle technology.
We have poured our passion and innovation into the Coupé in an effort to deliver a truly amazing car.” The car will enter production in 2015.
Meanwhile, the Pebble Beach Concours d’Élégance was also the venue for McLaren to introduce its new ‘track only’ P1 GTR race car, which features a lightweight electric motor that can generate 986hp.
In addition, Aston Martin used the show to unveil its DP-100 Vision Gran Turismo, which started life as a ‘racer’ in a video game. The vehicle is just a prototype and it is not going to be produced by the company for commercial release, but the new technologies featured in the car are expected to be seen in future Aston Martin models.
