Tata Motors has won a contract to supply 487 buses to the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation and 780 buses to the Himachal Road Transport Corporation in India.
These vehicles will feature surveillance cameras, wider window panes and entry/exit doors and a wider passage-way. They will be powered by ISBe Cummins fuel-efficient engines with a new six-speed overdrive gear box.
Ravi Pisharody, executive director of Tata’s Commercial Vehicles Business Unit, said: “These buses will be manufactured at the Tata Marcopolo Motors Ltd facilities in Dharwad and Lucknow, which have ‘state of the art’ technologies and expertise in systems for body-building and bus-body design.”
