Faro (www.faro.com) has released its all-new Laser Line Probe HD which, used in conjunction with the company’s Faro Edge ScanArm HD, delivers rapid point cloud collection with high levels of resolution and accuracy — in a compact and easy-to-use system.

New functionalities allow users to seamlessly scan across a wide range of material surfaces, regardless of contrast, reflectivity or part complexity — and without any special coatings or target placement.

Furthermore, an extra-wide scan stripe and fast frame rate boosts productivity by increasing coverage and reducing scanning time; and because the unit features 2,000 actual points per scan line and a new blue laser that incorporates noise-reduction technology, intricate components can be captured in fine detail.

Moreover, a new cross-hair feature combined with the existing LED Range-finder functionality provide real-time scanning feedback and allow users to significantly reduce training time.

The Faro Edge ScanArm HD, which can be used for product development, inspection, and quality control, offers capabilities such as point cloud comparison with CAD, rapid prototyping, reverse engineering, and 3-D modelling via both contact and non-contact measurement.
