Caterpillar is to spend over £700,000 on a new facility at its Larne factory in County Antrim (after investing £15 million in its Northern Ireland operations over the past two years).
Robert Kennedy, operations director at Caterpillar Northern Ireland, said this will greatly assist the company’s marketing to international customers. The new centre will house generator sets, axles for trucks and materials-handling machines.
Mr Kennedy said: “This is a world-class facility that will really do justice to the quality of manufacturing that takes place across our Northern Ireland operations. We have regular visits to our local facilities by dealers from around the world, as well as from a range of potential international customers. This is about showcasing our products, expertise and capabilities to their full potential.”
The manufacturing group has four sites in Northern Ireland — Larne, Monkstown, Springvale and Belfast — and employs around 2,100 people.
