Sherex Fastening Solutions, a 35-year-old company with its headquarters in Tonawanda, in the state of New York, is to open a new manufacturing facility in Akron, Ohio.
This move will give the firm, which makes its products in Taiwan, a manufacturing presence in the US for the first time. Sherex sells its products to a variety of sectors, including automotive, aerospace, defence, agriculture and construction equipment. The new 24,000ft
2 facility, to be known as Sherex Akron, will have its official opening in
November.
Sherex President Adam Pratt said: “Our growth over the past quarter-century has been directly related to finding better ways to get our products into the hands of customers more quickly and at the lowest total installed cost. Sometimes, that means new processes; sometimes, it means new resources; and sometimes, it simply means ‘setting up shop’ closer to where they are.”
Sherex Akron will create 15 new jobs over the next 12 months, 80% of them related to manufacturing. The company plans to triple its number of staff within five years.
