The forthcoming Imagineering Fair, which is designed to inspire the young engineers of tomorrow, is attracting some of the UK’s most prestigious organisations.
Sponsored by Jaguar Land Rover, the two-day family event will take place in the Jaguar Exhibition Hall at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry, 8-9 November.
Over 30 organisations have already confirmed their attendance; they include National Grid, Caterpillar, Cummins, Fanuc Robotics, GE Aviation, Severn Trent, the Manufacturing Technology Centre, the MAD Museum, Rotec Engineering, Coventry University and the University of Warwick.
This interactive event, which is aimed at children of all ages and abilities, features scores of engineering and technology activities designed by the participating organisations. These include the Land Rover 4x4 in Schools Technology Challenge, competing with a basketball-playing robot, model-making challenges, computer games — and even making serious paper aeroplanes.
Bob Shanks, chairman of the Imagineering Fair, said: “We have a fantastic line-up of companies, all with the same aim of inspiring the much needed-engineers of tomorrow.
“This is a marvellous day out for all the family, but especially for children, who are able to learn at first-hand about modern technology and talk to young engineers about their careers. There is so much for youngsters to do that we have arranged for tickets to be valid for both days.”
