Designed for the high-accuracy shopfloor measurement of small to medium-size parts, the Romer Absolute Arm Compact from Cobham-based Hexagon Metrology, has a 1.2m measuring reach and uses technology from the company’s proven Romer Absolute Arm range (

The Compact, which offers an alternative to manual tools, features a counterweight system that allows it to be used without mountings. It also incorporates absolute encoders, so no referencing is required; the unit can simply be placed on any surface and switched on, ready to take measurements. Furthermore, battery-powered wireless operation makes for maximum portability on the shopfloor.
Features include automatic probe recognition to ensure repeatable results for different probes without calibration, plus haptic feedback that alerts the user if an axis limit is reached, thus eliminating the risk of bad measurements. The Romer Absolute Arm Compact is also compatible with all major metrology software packages.
