Pera Technology — the new-product development (NPD) organisation — has teamed up with Edinburgh-based R&D tax relief specialist Jumpstart to give manufacturers and engineers greater access to funding.
They will offer access to the European Union’s Horizon 2020 fund, which provides grants up to £2 million for businesses looking to develop new products and processes.
Pera director Ian Claris said: “Horizon 2020 represents a fantastic opportunity for SME manufacturers to access funding for the purpose of R&D — specifically to help them realise their NPD ideas and then to release their new products into the market-place.
“Manufacturing and engineering SMEs contribute millions of pounds to the UK economy; Horizon 2020 gives them an opportunity to create innovative new products and processes.”
Jumpstart has been supporting UK small businesses since 2008; it has enabled hundreds of firms to claim £46 million in tax credits for their new-product R&D. Pera Technology has been providing technical support for the R&D of new products and processes at its engineering labs in Melton Mowbray for nearly 70 years.
